Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public gathering in Arunachal Pradesh's Itanagar, criticized the Congress government, asserting that the achievements of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the past five years would have taken the Congress two decades to accomplish. The Prime Minister highlighted the transformative projects worth ₹55,600 crore unveiled in the Northeast region, including the strategic Sela tunnel, which will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.

Emphasizing the vision of 'Ashta Lakshmi' for the development of the Northeast, PM Modi hailed the region as a strong link for trade and tourism with South Asia and East Asia. He condemned the Congress for neglecting border villages, referring to them as the "last village," while affirming his administration's commitment to prioritizing the upliftment of these communities through initiatives like the Vibrant Village Programme.

PM Modi underscored the BJP's primary goal of improving the lives of women in the northeastern states and lauded the completion of the Sela tunnel, a remarkable engineering feat completed at a cost of approximately ₹825 crore. This project, initiated with the foundation stone laid by PM Modi in February 2019, promises quicker and more efficient transportation routes in the region and holds strategic significance given its proximity to the Chinese frontier.

The inauguration of the Sela tunnel was marked by PM Modi flagging off an Arunachal Pradesh State Transport bus passing through it. Additionally, the Prime Minister initiated the groundwork for numerous road developments, environmental initiatives, tourism projects, and the enhancement of educational institutions.

Furthermore, PM Modi launched approximately 1,100 projects as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state and inaugurated 170 telecom towers funded by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), bringing connectivity to over 300 villages. He also distributed over 35,000 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with a total cost of ₹450 crores.

The Prime Minister's visit and the unveiling of these projects underscore the government's commitment to accelerating development and infrastructure growth in the Northeast, while also signaling a strong stance against the opposition and their alleged slow progress in the region.
